Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Katherine Blumstein, Ph.D.

Personalized, Evidence-Based Psychotherapy for Adults

Dr. Kate Blumstein

Welcome! My name is Kate Blumstein, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist living and practicing in the Seattle area.

In both individual and group psychotherapy, I work with adults of all ages to overcome fear and anxiety, enhance sleep and mood, navigate life transitions, and improve their relationships. I support and guide clients processing trauma, grief, and adjustment issues. While my primary areas of expertise are women in the perinatal period, veterans’ mental health, and multicultural persons and families, I have vast experience working with a diverse array of clients and presenting concerns.

I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and also have advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. My approach is warm, integrative, and personalized. This means I place a high value on the therapeutic relationship and tailor treatment to meet individual needs while also utilizing interventions shown to be effective in scientific research.

If you think I could be helpful to you, please do not hesitate to reach out by phone, email, or the message portal on this site. I look forward to connecting with you.

  • I am an out-of-network provider and am not paneled with any insurance companies. If your insurance policy provides out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with paperwork to submit for reimbursement (sometimes known as a “superbill”). If you have questions about your out-of-network benefits, I would suggest calling your insurance provider to gather details.

Common therapy billing codes include: 90834 (45-min individual therapy), 90837 (60-min individual therapy), 90853 (group therapy), 90846 & 90847 (parenting or couples session).

  • I exclusively see clients virtually - this is the case for both individual and group therapy. In order for sessions to run smoothly, clients simply need to find an area where they can speak freely and without interruption.

  • While I am a solo practitioner, I consult regularly with other clinical psychologists. I am also in regular communication with local OB-GYNs, psychiatrists, and psychiatric nurse practitioners in support of my clients and to remain up-to-date on the latest standards of perinatal care.
