My Services

I provide individual and group psychotherapy to adults of all ages hoping to make changes in their lives.

While I specialize in working with women in the perinatal period (around the time of conception, pregnancy, and postpartum) and veteran mental health, I have extensive experience conducting therapy with diverse clients experiencing a wide array of presenting concerns.

My work relies primarily on Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also frequently incorporate Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) and other psychodynamic approaches as well as elements of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I rely on these and other approaches while considering a client in the context of their environments and relationships, and how these in turn influence the person’s development and well being. In other words, I seek to understand the client based on the interaction between their unique personal characteristics and the layers of influence operating on their lives. My work with each client accounts for diverse aspects of their varied identities and how the individual themselves conceptualizes their experience.

My feminist, person-centered, interpersonally-oriented approach to case conceptualization, prevention, and intervention guide my work as a clinician. According to my background in clinical science, treatment prioritizes the latest in evidence-based care. I strive to communicate as openly as possible with clients in exploring how various interventions might work for them, emphasizing the client’s agency as well as a sense of mutual respect and collaboration in the therapeutic alliance.

I believe that people seeking psychological services are looking for new ways of understanding their current situation and of coping, whether this be through honing existing skills or through the identification and development of alternate strategies and resources. Our work will examine the current circumstances in your life as well as relevant past experiences towards facilitating greater self-awareness and freeing you to make life-enhancing decisions.

My treatment approach recognizes the importance of consistency in treatment and a mutual understanding of any evolving interventions and goals. Beyond being co-constructed, my approach is flexible; therapy goals and strategies remain subject to necessary change. I am fortunate to have experienced the nuanced ways in which practitioners necessarily modify care (everything from goals for therapy to treatment planning to the assignment of homework) to meet client and/or community needs. I have seen how much these kinds of modifications can improve client’s experience in therapy, the therapeutic alliance, and more.

This approach is highly strengths-based; therapy emphasizes and relies on the unique power and potential inside of each client to cultivate insight and help guide treatment.
